Centre trains 100 women on ICT, business skills
The National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) yesterday commenced the training of 100 women on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and business skills.
Director-General of the centre, Lady Onyeka Onwenu, said the 10-day training is to promote digital inclusion among disadvantaged women and the girl-child through the provision of basic ICT and entrepreneurship skills to enable them perform professional computing functions.
Onwenu said the training is also expedient with the planned launch of some women-friendly mobile applications by the centre in partnership with Tingo Mobile Limited, adding that the stipend the women will get from the training will also help them to establish businesses of their own.
Earlier, Director ICT of the centre, Manny Emecheta, said the training which has the theme “No Woman left out” is residential and will cover road transport, accommodation, meals and training materials.
He said 100 unemployed female graduates between 20 and 50 years old selected from the 36 states and FCT are expected to benefit from the training.
