Tin­ubu meets sen­a­tors

Na­tional leader of the All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC) Sen­a­tor Ahmed Bola Tin­ubu, last night met with a group of sen­a­tors from the camp that op­posed the elec­tion of Bukola Saraki as Se­nate Pres­i­dent.

One of the sen­a­tors who at­tended the meet­ing con­firmed to our cor­re­spon­dent on tele­phone last night that the meet­ing was held at Tin­ubu’s Asokoro res­i­dence in Abuja.

The sen­a­tor, who spoke on con­di­tion of anonymity, stated that Tin­ubu’s meet­ing with mem­bers of the Se­nate Unity Fo­rum that backed Sen­a­tor Ahmed Lawan for Se­nate Pres­i­dent, lasted sev­eral hours.

The sen­a­tor, who is from the South-West geo-po­lit­i­cal zone, how­ever, par­ried a ques­tion on what Tin­ubu dis­cussed with them.

He sim­ply said: “You know Sen­a­tor Bola Tin­ubu is a great leader of our party. I ex­pect you to un­der­stand that what­ever he dis­cussed with us must be in the in­ter­est of our party and the coun­try at large”.

Asked whether the min­is­te­rial list was dis­cussed at the meet­ing, the sen­a­tor said: “We dis­cussed many things about the polity. Full stop, please”.

Mem­bers of the Se­nate Unity Fo­rum had re­port­edly started woo­ing sen­a­tors loyal to Saraki with a view to chang­ing the lead­er­ship of the Se­nate.
