FG urged to evolve a com­pre­hen­sive trans­port pol­icy

A Non Gov­ern­men­tal Or­gan­i­sa­tion, Kwapd’as Road Safety De­mand (KRSD) has called on the fed­eral gov­ern­ment to come up with a com­pre­hen­sive trans­port pol­icy for the coun­try in or­der to make the Nige­ria road safe for road users.

The Founder of KRSD, Jus­tice Mon­ica Doug­ban Mensem said this yesterday at the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s 4th an­nual in­ter­na­tional con­fer­ence and pre­sen­ta­tion of award to win­ners of Fed­eral Road Safety Com­mis­sion (FRSC) es­say com­pe­ti­tion.

She said there pock­ets of laws es­pe­cially the is­sue of road signs but there is no com­pre­hen­sive trans­port pol­icy and there was need for one in col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween NGOs and road safety agen­cies.

FRSC Corps Mar­shal, Boboye Oyeyemi rep­re­sented by An­gus Obum­neme Ibezim said the com­mis­sion ini­ti­ated child road safety pro­gramme in schools so as to build young per­sons as vanguard for road safety.
