Daily Trust - - NEWS - By Daniel Adugbo

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has expressed sadness over the death of quintessential journalist, Hajiya Bilkisu, during the Mina stampede in Saudi Arabia last week.

The NGE in a statement by its General Secretary, Victoria Ibanga said it was greatly saddened by her untimely death.

According to the statement, Hajiya Bilkisu was an invaluable and respected fellow of the prestigious association, who broke the glass ceiling to edit two national newspapers and a magazine; Triumph in Kano, New Nigerian and Citizen, both in Kaduna. The guild also said Hajiya Bilkisu was a brilliant voice for the voiceless Nigerian girlchild and expressed optimism that the organizers of the pilgrimage will take precautionary measures to avoid future occurrences.
