Stu­dent, 27, in prison over rape

A 27-year-old stu­dent, Oyetunde An­jola Ishola of Monatan area, Ibadan, Oyo State, was yesterday re­manded in prison by a Chief Mag­is­trate’s Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, for al­legedly rap­ing a nine -year-old girl.

The ac­cused, who is be­ing pros­e­cuted by the Nige­ria Se­cu­rity and Civil De­fence Corps (NSCDC) Ajide Ke­hinde Peter told the court that on Septem­ber 8, one Ha­keem Mustapha re­ported to NSCDC Di­vi­sion that his nine-year-old daugh­ter was raped by Oyetunde An­jola Ishola and oth­ers, who are now at large.

“In­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that the ac­cused and one Ojoluyi Tominsi now at large con­spired and had canal knowl­edge of the vic­tim. They then used a white hand­ker­chief to wipe blood gush­ing out from her pri­vate part and went away with it,” the pros­e­cu­tion said.

The ac­cused was ar­raigned over crim­i­nal con­spir­acy and rape, of­fences that con­tra­vened sec­tions 96 and 282 of Pe­nal Code. Chief Mag­is­trate Olokoyo or­dered that he should be re­manded at Fed­eral Prison Yard, Oke-Kura Ilorin, and ad­journed the case for fur­ther men­tion.
