Anti-Graft War: FG urged to re­spect hu­man right

The Bauchi State pub­lic­ity sec­re­tary of the Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party (PDP) Al­haji Bashir Bukar Rimin Zayam has ad­vised the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment to re­spect hu­man rights in its drive to­wards re­cov­ery of stolen prop­erty from gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials.

He said there was noth­ing wrong in re­triev­ing what be­long to Nige­ri­ans through le­gal means as en­shrined in the laws of the coun­try.

He stated this in Bauchi yesterday, while an­swer­ing ques­tions from jour­nal­ists on Buhari ad­min­is­tra­tion’s ef­fort to fight cor­rup­tion.

Zayam how­ever cau­tioned that while the gov­ern­ment should re­cover money and ev­ery­thing and there­after pun­ish the cor­rupt of­fi­cials, its anti-cor­rup­tion agen­cies must not vi­o­late the fun­da­men­tal hu­man rights of the peo­ple.

He com­mended the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment on its ef­fort in fight­ing in­sur­gency and cor­rup­tion, and ad­vised Nige­ri­ans to sup­port laud­able ini­tia­tive of gov­ern­ment.
