Five sen­a­tors spon­sor 7 bills

Sen­a­tor Ba­rau Jib­ril of Kano North Sen­a­to­rial Dis­trict and five oth­ers yesterday spon­sored seven bills at the Se­nate.

Our cor­re­spon­dent re­ports that all the bills passed through the first read­ing dur­ing yesterday’s ple­nary.

It was ob­served that so far, no bill has passed through the sec­ond read­ing since the in­au­gu­ra­tion of the 8th Se­nate on June 9th this year.

Jib­ril spon­sored bills tagged ‘Trade mal­prac­tices Act CAP 12 LFN 2011 (Amend­ment) Bill 2015 and Energy Com­mis­sion Act no. 621979(Amend­ment) Bill 2015.’

On their parts, Sen­a­tor Bio­dun Olu­jimi (Ek­iti South) spon­sored a Bill on ‘Women Em­pow­er­ment and Gen­der Equal­ity Bill 2015’; Sen­a­tor Rose Oko (Cross River North)’s Bill was on ‘Sov­er­eign Wealth Fund Act 2011 (Amend­ment) Bill 2015’; and Sen­a­tor Ti­j­jani Ya­haya Kaura (Zam­fara North)’s Bill was on ‘Fed­eral Schol­ar­ship Com­mis­sion.’

The other sen­a­tors that had their bills pass­ing through first read­ing yesterday were Sen­a­tor Igho­toya Amori (Delta Cen­tral) and Sen­a­tor Matthew Uroghide (Edo South).

The two bills are on ‘Fed­eral Univer­sity of Petroleum Re­sources Ef­fu­run’ and ‘In­tes­tate Suc­ces­sion Bill 2015.’
