The Kwara State Police Command has called for the support of the people to address the lingering problems of cybercrime, describing it as a national embarrassment.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Ilorin, the state capital.
The police image maker described cybercrime as a form of crime committed through the use of Internet Communication Technology (ICT), saying it was common among the youths within the age bracket of 18 to 30.
Ajayi disclosed that a sizeable number of suspects were involved in cybercrime and prosecuted by the command recently, warning the people to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
The police image maker charged all the operators of cyber business in the state and country at large to be very vigilant and report any person or group of people suspected to be involved in cybercrime to the security officers.
He said it was against the law to shield anyone who was involved in criminal activities.
“Anyone or group of people who commit the offence will be charged accordingly,” he ssaid.
cybercrime has made the county lost its honour and pride in the world.
The PPRO therefore implored Nigerians, particularly the ladies, to be mindful of whom they released their data to on the internet.
