Man kills friend at Dutse drink­ing spot

A 23-year-old man was re­ported dead af­ter he was stabbed with a bot­tle by a friend at a beer par­lor in Zone 3 area of Dut­sen Al­haji, Bwari Area Coun­cil of the FCT.

The de­ceased, a se­cu­rity guard, City News learnt, had gone to drink at the drink­ing spot that fate­ful day where he met the sus­pect, who was al­ready there with his brother.

The source said trou­ble started when a misun­der­stand­ing arose be­tween them in the course of dis­cus­sion.

“The ar­gu­ment be­came hot and later re­sulted to a fight and it was in the course of fight­ing that the sus­pect sud­denly took a bot­tle of the hot drink they were tak­ing to­gether, broke it, and stabbed his friend in the throat.

City News how­ever gath­ered that the vic­tim was im­me­di­ately rushed to the Kubwa Gen­eral hos­pi­tal where he later died, haven bled pro­fusely from the stab wound.

The source fur­ther re­vealed that the sus­pect, who took to his heels as soon as he com­mit­ted the act, was later ar­rested by the po­lice af­ter thor­ough search.

When con­tacted, the Dutse Di­vi­sional Po­lice Of­fi­cer, SP Ha­jia Aisha Yusuf, con­firmed the in­ci­dent, say­ing the corpse had been de­posited at the hos­pi­tal morgue.

She said the case had been trans­ferred to the homi­cide sec­tion of the Com­mand Head­quar­ters.

In another case, a mo­tor­cy­clist nar­rowly es­caped death af­ter be­ing stabbed by two sus­pected mo­tor­cy­cle snatchers within the same area.

The vic­tim, Ak­ilu Haruna, had car­ried two pas­sen­gers from Byazhin axis to Phase 2, Site 2 area, not know­ing that they were rob­bers.

The source said one of the sus­pects stabbed him on the head from be­hind be­fore they dis­pos­sessed him of his mo­tor­cy­cle.

City News how­ever learnt that one of the sus­pects was later ar­rested by the po­lice who gave them a hot chase, fol­low­ing a tip-off, while his col­league es­caped.

Con­firm­ing the in­ci­dent, the Kubwa Di­vi­sional Po­lice Of­fi­cer, Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Nur­rudeen Sabo, said the mo­tor­cy­cle was re­cov­ered from the sus­pect, adding that ef­forts are on­go­ing to ar­rest the other sus­pect.
