Support govt for fast development –Ambode

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Femi Akinola, Lagos

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has called on Nigerians to cooperate with governments at the federal and state levels to ensure fast development.

Ambode who spoke at the Independence Day parade held at the Police College, Ikeja yesterday, said the call for ‘change’ by Nigerians had brought a new administration and for it to translate into good governance, citizens must support the government by living in peace and harmony.

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, the governor assured Nigerians that the government was determined to take the country to new heights.

He said citizens could also contribute to the development of the country by reporting bad elements within their neighbourhoods and obeying laws.

He restated the commitment of his administration to deliver on its set goals towards making life more comfortable for Lagosians and visitors, pledging that his government would consolidate on the efforts of the past administration in the state and work towards making the dream of a better and prosperous Lagos a reality.

There were parades by the Nigeria Police and para-military organisations as well as pupils and students from various primary and secondary schools to mark the anniversary.
