Bauchi gov urges commitment, patriotism
Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar has called for concerted efforts from Nigerians for the development of the country, saying the country had cause to celebrate.
The governor made the call in his message to mark Nigeria’s 55th independence anniversary yesterday.
He urged Nigerians irrespective of their ethno-religious or political differences, to use the period for sober reflections and make commitments to the development of the country.
“55 years in the life of a nation is certainly far from a lifetime but for us in Nigeria, it is a period of significance in our political evolution. This national political evolution has the emergence of Bauchi State as one of its components. We in the state therefore have every cause to celebrate along with others all over Nigeria”, he said.
He charged Nigerians to be patriotic and committed to the Nigeria project, saying the country can only fulfil its potentials through sacrifice, selflessness and dedication to service.
“Today, more than ever before, we are required by our circumstances to exhibit these qualities as we seek to restore Bauchi State to its position of eminence not only in the North-east region but in the nation”, he said.
