Po­lice, DSS urged to in­ves­ti­gate Fani-Kay­ode

The In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice, Mr. Solomon Arase and Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of the Depart­ment of Se­cu­rity Ser­vice, Al­haji Lawal Musa Daura, have been called upon to in­ves­ti­gate and pros­e­cute Chief Femi Fani-Kay­ode over ‘‘in­cit­ing state­ments ca­pa­ble of drag­ging the coun­try into chaos’’.

Mem­bers of 11 Civil So­ci­ety Or­ga­ni­za­tions from Kano, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe and Adamawa states made the call yesterday at a press con­fer­ence in Kano.

Ad­dress­ing news­men on be­half of the 11 CSOs, the pro­grammes man­ager, Cen­tre for In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy and De­vel­op­ment (CITAD), Ab­dul­ganiyu Rufa’i Yakub, said ‘‘dan­ger­ous’’ state­ments by politi­cians are bad for the coun­try and called on se­cu­rity agents to take ac­tion on the mat­ter.

“Femi Fani-Kay­ode in a re­cent ar­ti­cle de­scribed Fu­lani herds­men as the pests of Nige­ria, African tsetse flies, blood suck­ers, leeches, de­stroy­ers, killers, ter­ror­ists and all sorts.
