Ji­gawa law­mak­ers get N199.5m ve­hi­cles

The Ji­gawa Ss­tate gov­ern­ment has re­vealed that the state ex­ec­u­tive coun­cil has rat­i­fied the pur­chase of 30 ve­hi­cles for mem­bers of the State House of Assem­bly at the cost of N199.5 mil­lion. Each ve­hi­cle is bought at N6.7 mil­lion. Ji­gawa State Com­mis­sioner for In­for­ma­tion, Youth, Sports and Cul­ture, Al­haji Bala Ibrahim, dis­closed this to news­men af­ter the state ex­ec­u­tive coun­cil meet­ing in Dutse.

Al­haji Ibrahim told jour­nal­ists that the state gov­ern­ment also ap­proved about N733.5 mil­lion for the re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of all wa­ter schemes across the state.

He added that dif­fer­ent wa­ter schemes, in­clud­ing that of Ru­ral Wa­ter and San­i­ta­tion Agency (RUWASA) and Small Town Wa­ter Agency (STOWA) would be re­ha­bil­i­tated.

He said the present ad­min­is­tra­tion was com­mit­ted to en­sur­ing that all wa­ter schemes be­came func­tional in or­der to pro­vide potable wa­ter for its cit­i­zens.

He said the coun­cil had re­solved to con­tinue projects ini­ti­ated by im­me­di­ate past gov­ern­ment if funds were avail­able.
