…as Adamawa Tribunal affirms La’ori’s election
Adamawa State National and State Legislative Assembly Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja Tuesday threw out a petition filed by Mr Michael Kufuro Zidon, challenging the validity of the election of Rep. Kwamoti Bitrus La’ori of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The tribunal ruled against the petition filed by Michael Kufuro Zidon of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking the nullification of the election into Demsa/ Numan/ Lamurde Federal Constituency of Adamawa State held on March 28, 2015.
Mr Zidon, in his petition, called on the tribunal to declare the PDP the winner after claiming that La’ori of the SDP was not qualified to contest the election.
He also called upon the tribunal to declare that the votes scored by La’ori were not thrown away, having been recorded for La’ori, who was not qualified to stand for the election.
The chairman of the tribunal Justice Anthony Onovo ruled that the reliefs sought by the petitioner in the present petition could not be granted, saying “This petition is without merit and hereby dismissed.”
Upon reviewing the evidence, the judge proceeded to dismiss all the reliefs the petitioner sought in the petition.
Meanwhile, the Justice Anthony Onovoled Tribunal will on October 20, 2015 deliver its judgment in the petition filed by Umar Dauda Duhu against Adamu Kamale and not as reported that the judgment was delivered on Tuesday by our reporter.
