Ortom denies inflating bailout fund

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Hope Abah, Makurdi

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State yesterday denied insinuations making the rounds that his administration had inflated the bailout fund for the state with the motive of siphoning money for selfish purposes.

Reacting to the allegation on behalf of the governor, Senior Special Assistant on Media and ICT, Mr Terver Akase, told journalists in Makurdi that the allegations were baseless, mischievous and unfounded.

“The financial institutions already have the figures computed for the bailout fund and they are not contradictory. So, any insinuation that the amount was inflated is fake. Though all necessary paper work to access the money has been completed. The bailout fund has not yet been released to Benue. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is yet to credit the state’s account,” he said.
