Cus­tom raid smug­glers’ hide­outs in La­gos, Ogun

Cus­toms op­er­a­tives from the Fed­eral Oper­a­tions Unit Zone ‘A’ Ikeja at the week­end raided var­i­ous smug­glers’ hide­outs in La­gos and Ogun States.

About 5,020 car­tons of frozen poul­try prod­ucts and 2,016 car­tons of bot­tled wa­ter worth N30.118 mil­lion were seized.

One per­son was ar­rested dur­ing the raid at one of the hide­outs while the oth­ers fled into the bush af­ter en­gag­ing the Cus­tom op­er­a­tives in a shootout.

The Cus­toms Area Con­troller, FOU Zone A, Amade Ab­dul, said through the zonal Public Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, Uche Eje­sieme, that the seizure and ar­rest were a ma­jor boost.

Cus­tom of­fi­cials from the Fed­eral Oper­a­tions Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Ow­erri, Imo State have also im­pounded a truck­load of fake anal­gesic tablets worth about N164 mil­lion.

Items seized in­cluded 696 car­tons of fake Lubu­mol and 153 car­tons of fake Tramodol with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N163.2m.
