‘Biafra struggle claimed 18m people’
Assistant Information Director of Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Mr. Sunday Okereafor yesterday said the struggle by the organisation has claimed 18 million people since 1967.
Okereafor, in a statement issued yesterday said despite killing and molestation by the Nigerian government and security agencies, they would not abandon the struggle until its goal was achieved.
He accused South-east governors of inciting violence in the zone for political gains.
He also condemned the alleged shooting, killing, and arrest of pastors, bishops in two churches by security agents.
Okereafor said MASSOB was operating according to the law as enshrined in the United Nations Charter on Human Rights.
He said: “Nobody’s right should be violated because there is constitutional right to assembly, association, religion, and worship for all Nigerians and MASSOB members are not exception to this construction”.
