LG autonomy necessary for Buhari’s success – NULGE

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Ibrahim Musa Giginyu, Kano

National President of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Comrade Ibrahim Khaleel yesterday said the success of Buhari’s administration lies in the actualization of local government autonomy.

The NULGE president, at a press briefing in Kano, said local government was the bane of every successive government. He said the union was very optimistic that President Muhammadu Buhari would redeem his pledge to grant freedom to local governments.

He added that the call for financial and democratic autonomy of local governments in Nigeria was necessary, ‘‘judging from the challenges presently facing local governments in the nation due to state government unconstitutional dictatorship over them, autonomy is the only way out.”
