Oyo APC wants PDP Senator’s resignation

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Dele Ogunyemi, Ibadan By Saawua Terzungwe

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called for the resignation of the lawmaker representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district, Senator Ben MurrayBruce, from the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly.

The call followed the reports of an engineer with the Bayelsa State Water Board, Engr. Peter Ogiero, who committed suicide over his 13-months unpaid salary by the state government.

Senator MurrayBruce, who hails from the same community as the late Ogiero, was a leading voice in escalating the economic crisis issue which rocked Osun State earlier in the year when he (MurrayBruce) went as far as offering to donate part of his allowances to the workers who were being owed arrears of salaries by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

In a statement issued yesterday in Ibadan by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Mr Olawale Sadare, the APC in Oyo State described Senator Murray-Bruce as an attention-seeker who was not fit to remain in the hallowed Chamber of the Senate in view of the latest development which had exposed him to the whole world.

An aspirant seeking the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order to contest the Borno Central Senatorial by-election, Mr Umar Mohammed Goni, has petitioned the party over ‘irregularities’ in the primaries conducted on September 21, 2015.

Mr Goni, who told reporters in Abuja that he had submitted his petition to the national leadership of the party for consideration, asked the PDP to cancel the primaries.

The aspirant claimed that Alhaji Umar Kaleri, the zonal chairman in the senatorial district participated in the primaries without purchasing the expression of interest and nomination forms. He also claimed that he participated without appearing before the screening committee set up by the party in Abuja.

He further claimed in the petition that Kaleri did not resign as

PDP Ag. National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus
