Kaduna to establish schools in prisons
The Controller, Nigerian Prisons Service in Kaduna State, Abubakar Garba, yesterday said Governor Nasir ElRufai had approved the establishment of secondary schools in the state’s prisons.
Speaking to newsmen after freeing prisoners who were recently pardoned by the governor, Garba said skills acquisition centres would also be established in the prisons.
“We will start a pilot scheme very soon with the Kaduna prisons. We hope that by next year the pilot scheme would reach other prison formations across Kaduna State,” he said. Garba said the governor was advised by the advisory committee to release 14 prisoners, five of whom were earlier condemned to death.
