IPAC calls for peaceful LG poll in Yobe
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on politicians to promote peaceful electioneering campaign ahead of the forthcoming local government election in Yobe State.
The IPAC Chairman, Yobe State chapter, Alhaji Umar Kukuri, made call shortly after his re-election in Damaturu.
Alhaji Kukuri, who was returned unopposed in a peaceful election, also urged Yobe government to give the State Independent Electoral Commission the needed freedom to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable council election.
“Nigeria’s democracy is growing stronger. We should collectively strive to ensure that the provisions of the constitution are maintained with elected officers occupying elective positions,” he added.
Comrade Bello Muhammad was also returned as secretary, Mr Saidu Ajeji assistant secretary, and Mr Jafaru Ayuba publicity secretary.
