IPAC calls for peace­ful LG poll in Yobe

The In­ter-Party Ad­vi­sory Coun­cil (IPAC) has called on politi­cians to pro­mote peace­ful elec­tion­eer­ing cam­paign ahead of the forth­com­ing lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tion in Yobe State.

The IPAC Chair­man, Yobe State chap­ter, Al­haji Umar Kukuri, made call shortly af­ter his re-elec­tion in Da­maturu.

Al­haji Kukuri, who was re­turned un­op­posed in a peace­ful elec­tion, also urged Yobe gov­ern­ment to give the State In­de­pen­dent Elec­toral Com­mis­sion the needed free­dom to con­duct free, fair, cred­i­ble and ac­cept­able coun­cil elec­tion.

“Nige­ria’s democ­racy is grow­ing stronger. We should col­lec­tively strive to en­sure that the pro­vi­sions of the con­sti­tu­tion are main­tained with elected of­fi­cers oc­cu­py­ing elec­tive po­si­tions,” he added.

Com­rade Bello Muham­mad was also re­turned as sec­re­tary, Mr Saidu Ajeji as­sis­tant sec­re­tary, and Mr Ja­faru Ayuba pub­lic­ity sec­re­tary.
