Bauchi Chief Judge re­leases 35 prison in­mates

As part of ef­forts to re­duce prison con­ges­tion in Bauchi State, the Act­ing Chief Judge, Jus­tice Hamidu Ku­naza, has re­leased 35 in­mates.

A state­ment from the spokesper­son of the state com­mand of the Nige­rian Pris­ons Ser­vice, Adam Abubakar Jibrin, said the in­mates were freed af­ter a re­view of their cases by the act­ing chief judge dur­ing a visit to the prison.

The dis­charged in­mates, the state­ment said, were mostly await­ing trial and had been in prison for long pe­ri­ods.

Jus­tice Ku­naza com­mended the Comptroller, Al­haji Sidi Muham­mad and staff of the com­mand for their self­less ser­vice and ded­i­ca­tion. The comptroller con­grat­u­lated the act­ing chief judge on his ap­point­ment and wished him a suc­cess­ful ten­ure.
