Bauchi Chief Judge releases 35 prison inmates
As part of efforts to reduce prison congestion in Bauchi State, the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Hamidu Kunaza, has released 35 inmates.
A statement from the spokesperson of the state command of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Adam Abubakar Jibrin, said the inmates were freed after a review of their cases by the acting chief judge during a visit to the prison.
The discharged inmates, the statement said, were mostly awaiting trial and had been in prison for long periods.
Justice Kunaza commended the Comptroller, Alhaji Sidi Muhammad and staff of the command for their selfless service and dedication. The comptroller congratulated the acting chief judge on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure.
