Teachers task FG on challenges

Daily Trust - - NEWS - By Abubakar Haruna

Teachers from various schools across the country have challenged the Federal Government to take proactive measures to address challenges facing teaching in the country.

Some of the teachers who spoke to Daily Trust in Abuja, said that even as they are the pillars of education, they are often forgotten.

According to Bora Madalin, a teacher from Edo State, lack of a conducive learning environment, poor salary package and shortage of learning materials are some of the major challenges facing teachers.

According to her, if salary is reviewed and increased, all the issues facing the education sector would be solved.

But Bamgbose Grace, a teacher from Delta State called on the government to train them on the newly introduced curriculum.

She however stressed the need for providing text books for the teachers to enable them impact good knowledge to the students.

According to Musa Ibrahim Damban from Bauchi State, the government would not achieve better education without addressing problems of teachers in the country and also called for a better salary package, a position collaborated by Ya’u T.K also from the state.
