Po­lice ar­rest 20 sus­pected crim­i­nals, re­cover 72 mo­tor­cy­cles

In con­tin­u­a­tion of its ef­forts to rid the state of crime, the La­gos State po­lice com­mand, at the week­end, con­ducted a mas­sive raid on iden­ti­fied crim­i­nal hide­outs within the FESTAC axis.

The raid, said to be an in­tel­li­gence-driven one, was de­signed to proac­tively deal with emerg­ing se­cu­rity threats within the me­trop­o­lis. It was also tar­geted

re­duc­ing law­less­ness

at amongst okada riders and other hood­lums in the state.

The Po­lice Public Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, La­gos State com­mand, Joe Of­for, told Daily Trust that the raid had so far led to the ar­rests of 20 male sus­pects and the seizure of 72 mo­tor­cy­cles.

The Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, La­gos State com­mand, CP Fatai Owoseni, who also used the op­por­tu­nity to warn mem­bers of the public against har­bour­ing crim­i­nals, stressed that the ex­er­cise would con­tinue un­til their set ob­jec­tives were achieved.

He dis­closed that those ar­rested would soon be charged to court while the bikes would be handed over to the state gov­ern­ment.
