Woman, 52, jailed for defrauding 3 tipper drivers
A 52-year-old woman has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Abuja Grade 1 Area court for defrauding three tipper drivers to the tune of N189,000
Okpeyemi Adebayo of Kaba village, was convicted for criminal breach of trust, offense contrary to section 312 of the Penal Code.
The police prosecutor, Kelechi Echendu, told the court that the complainants, Ahmed Abdulahi, Bala Baba and Yahiza Adamu, all of Global Signboard Tipper garage, Abuja, on October 2, reported at the Dutse Alhaji police station, that while they were at the above address, the accused met them and asked them to supply three trips of sharp sand, all valued at N189,000 at Fountain estate, Karsana Abuja.
He said when they demanded for their money after delivery of the sand, she asked them to wait, claiming that someone had gone to bring the money from the bank, who never returned till date.
When the charge was read to the accused, she pleaded guilty and the judge, Mohammed Marafa sentenced her to six months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine.
