...Meet­ing with Buhari not about my trial –Saraki

Se­nate Pres­i­dent Bukola Saraki says meet­ing by Pres­i­dent Muham­madu Buhari and the lead­er­ship of the Na­tional Assem­bly was on how to en­sure the ex­ec­u­tive works in the in­ter­est of Nige­ria.

Saraki was ad­dress­ing State House cor­re­spon­dents Wed­nes­day night af­ter the meet­ing which was held be­hind closed doors at the First Lady’s Con­fer­ence Hall of the Aso Rock Pres­i­den­tial Villa in Abuja.

He noted that the meet­ing was an ini­tia­tive of the pres­i­dent for an in­ter­ac­tion with the lead­er­ship of the Na­tional Assem­bly, say­ing it was a very use­ful ses­sion be­ing the first one.

Ac­cord­ing to the Se­nate pres­i­dent, this kind of in­ter­ac­tion helps in en­sur­ing smooth re­la­tion­ship be­tween the two arms of gov­ern­ment.

But when asked whether his trial at the Code of Con­duct Tri­bunal (CCT) was dis­cussed at the meet­ing with Pres­i­dent Buhari, Saraki said: “We’re talk­ing about what will make Nige­ria work, we’re talk­ing about the prom­ises we made
