Police in Dutse have arraigned a 32-year-old mason before an Abuja Grade 1 Area court for allegedly breaking into the house of one retired AirCommodore Peter Eke in Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

Dominic Odoh of Zone 1, Dutsen Alhaji, was charged with criminal trespass, house breaking, mischief and attempt to commit theft.

The police prosecutor, Kelechi Echendu, told the court that the complainant, of Galadima, Abuja, reported at the Kubwa Police station, on September 27 that he returned from church to discover that the accused had gained entrance into his house through a hole he created through the fence.

He said the accused used an interlocking block to break the aluminum window and damage the window’s burglary proof with an intention to steal.

According to the prosecutor, the accused took to his heels when he was seen by one Mohammed Adamu, but was later arrested along Kubwa expressway following a hot chase, adding that the complainant spent the sum of N62,000 to repair the damaged fence and window.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N20,000 by the judge, Mohammed Marafa with one reasonable surety who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to October 27, for hearing.
