NYSC kicks-off free medi-care for ru­ral dwellers in Anam­bra

The Na­tional Youth Ser­vice Corps (NYSC) has kicked­off a one-week free med­i­cal out­reach for ru­ral dwellers in Anam­bra un­der the NYSCHealth Ini­tia­tive for Ru­ral Dwellers (NYSC-HIRD).

Speak­ing at Umueri, Anam­bra East Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area, the state’s NYSC Co­or­di­na­tor , Mrs Robinca Odigwe, said the scheme hopes to reach out to 3,000 ru­ral dwellers.

She said that corps med­i­cal vol­un­teers were mo­bilised for the pro­vi­sion of health in­ter­ven­tion through di­ag­no­sis, treat­ment, re­fer­rals and proper preven­tion mech­a­nism.

Ear­lier, Gov. Wil­lie Obiano of Anam­bra, who flagged-off the pro­gramme, de­scribed it as “another good ges­ture from NYSC that touches the lives of the peo­ple.”

Rep­re­sented by a Di­rec­tor in the Min­istry of Youths and Sports, Dr Greg Onug­bolu, he said that the NYSC health-care ap­proach will com­ple­ment gov­ern­ment’s ef­fort in the sec­tor.

Pres­i­dent-Gen­eral of Umueri com­mu­nity, Mr Chike Odili said the NYSC scheme was one of the best ini­tia­tives in­tro­duced by the na­tion’s found­ing fathers.
