No explosion in Karu – FCTA

Daily Trust - - CITY NEWS - By Ben Atonko

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has discredited information that there was a bomb incident in Karu, FCT.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the FCTA, Muhammad Hazat Sule, yesterday read: “It has come to the attention of the FCT Administration that there were rumours making the round that a bomb explosion happened around Karu Satellite Town, suburb of Abuja on Saturday night, which is untrue.

“The FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. John Obinna Chukwu wishes to assure the residents of the Federal Capital Territory that the rumour is unfounded.”

The statement explained that the FCT Police Commissioner, Wilson Inalegwu in company of security agents have combed Orozo to Nyanya and Karu up to Mararaba, in Nasarawa State without observing any sign of bomb explosion.

The Permanent Secretary therefore urged residents to disregard the information, describing it as baseless.

Chukwu assured that the security agencies have intensified surveillance of the entire territory in order to nip in the bud any incidents.

He renewed the call on residents to be security conscious, vigilant and report any suspicious person(s) or movement(s) to nearby security agents.
