3 reps confirmed in Benue

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Hope Abah, Makurdi

Three members of the House of Representatives from Benue State yesterday won the cases brought against them before the National/State Legislative Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Makurdi.

They are Ezekiel Adaji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Otukpo/ Ohimini Federal Constituency, Mark Gbillah of Gwer/Gwer West Federal Constituency and Herman Hembe of Vandekiya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The tribunal upheld the election of Gbillah against his PDP opponent, John Tion, on grounds that Tion’s petition was filed out of time, while Hembe won against Engr, Terhemen Hons of the PDP on lack of merit.

Similarly, Adaji excelled against his APC challenger, a former representative, Nelson Alapa, who is also a chieftain of the APC in his petition which alleged discrepancies, widespread falsification of results, mutilation, cancellation amongst others in the conduct of the election.
