APGA’s case against El-Rufai’s election fails at tribunal

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Andrew Agbese, Kaduna

The All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) bid to have the April 11 governorship election in Kaduna State which returned Malam Nasir El-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner failed yesterday as the Governorship Election Petition tribunal sitting in Kaduna dismissed the petition.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice A. A. Adebara, dismissed the petition on the ground that it lacked merit and facts to establish non-compliance.

APGA governorship candidate at the last election, Mr Polycarp Danladi, had petitioned the tribunal challenging the election.

He prayed the tribunal to nullify the election and order for a fresh election, arguing that his name was not captured in the Form EC 8A and that the election was characterized by over voting and not conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act.
