Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Eugene Agha, Lagos

An 18-seater commercial bus late Wednesday plunged into the Arun River in Ijebu East LGA of Ogun State with all the passengers and the driver feared dead.

The body of one of the victims was brought out of the murky waters yesterday. Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the police were searching for victims in the river yesterday.

Details of the accident were sketchy at press time but a source said the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the river.

The source said the vehicle took off from Ijebu Ode. He added that emergency workers did not receive information on the accident until about 2.00pm yesterday.

NEMA South-west spokesman, Ibrahim Farinloye, said efforts were on to rescue those trapped while only one victim had been brought out yesterday.
