CITY NEWS Po­lice ar­rest man over N3.9m job scam

The Po­lice in Kubwa have ar­rested a 52-year-old man for al­legedly col­lect­ing the sum of N3.9m from six job seek­ers to se­cure em­ploy­ment for them in the Fed­eral Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion.

The sus­pect, sim­ply iden­ti­fied as Bernard, had al­ready is­sued fake ap­point­ment letters to his des­per­ate vic­tims be­fore he was ar­rested. City News gath­ered from po­lice that neme­sis caught up with the Benin-born sus­pect af­ter one of his vic­tims re­ported the mat­ter to author­i­ties and im­me­di­ately, po­lice swung into ac­tion and rounded him up.

“Po­lice laid am­bush in his house lo­cated at Phase 2, Site 1 of the area around 12 noon on Wed­nes­day and he was even­tu­ally ap­pre­hended,” the source added. Ac­cord­ing to the source, the sus­pect con­fessed to have col­lected the sum of N650,000 from each of the vic­tims and had al­ready re­mit­ted the sum of N3mil­lion to the ac­claimed staff of the com­mis­sion who is­sued him with the ap­point­ment letters, while he kept the bal­ance of N900,000.

When con­tacted, the Kubwa Di­vi­sional Po­lice Of­fi­cer, Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Nur­rudeen Sabo, con­firmed the ar­rest, say­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion has com­menced.
