The Police in Kubwa have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly collecting the sum of N3.9m from six job seekers to secure employment for them in the Federal Civil Service Commission.
The suspect, simply identified as Bernard, had already issued fake appointment letters to his desperate victims before he was arrested. City News gathered from police that nemesis caught up with the Benin-born suspect after one of his victims reported the matter to authorities and immediately, police swung into action and rounded him up.
“Police laid ambush in his house located at Phase 2, Site 1 of the area around 12 noon on Wednesday and he was eventually apprehended,” the source added. According to the source, the suspect confessed to have collected the sum of N650,000 from each of the victims and had already remitted the sum of N3million to the acclaimed staff of the commission who issued him with the appointment letters, while he kept the balance of N900,000.
When contacted, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, confirmed the arrest, saying investigation has commenced.
