2 firms to invest $280m on solar energy in Katsina
About $280 million is to be invested by two firms to generate 175 MW from solar in Katsina. The firms are Pan African Solar and Nova Solar.
Briefing newsmen in Katsina, Dikko Radda, Chief of Staff to Governor Aminu Maisari said the two projects are to sited in Kankia and expected to be commissioned in 2016.
According to Radda, Pan African Solar is to invest $130m for 75mw, while Nova Solar is to commit $150m for 100mw. He said the entire project will be one of the largest solar projects in the continent.
He said Governor Masari had been making necessary plans for the realisation of the projects to boost power supply in the state and add to the national grid.
When completed, the project will provide cheap power and youth employment to the teeming populace.
