Gombe Speaker urges re­spect for tri­bunal judg­ments

Speaker of the Gombe State House of As­sem­bly, Al­haji Abubakar Nasiru Nono, has called on the en­tire peo­ple of the state to re­spect the judg­ment which up­held the vic­tory of Gover­nor Ibrahim Has­san Dankwambo and the Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party (PDP) at the April 11, 2015 polls.

Nono spoke to re­porters in Gombe, while re­act­ing to the judg­ment of the Gov­er­nor­ship Elec­tions Pe­ti­tions Tri­bunal.

He said the fi­nal judg­ment in­di­cated the cred­i­bil­ity of the ju­di­ciary in Nige­ria, and that it also showed that the votes of the masses truly count.

He there­fore ad­vised the peo­ple to re­spect the rule of law, while con­grat­u­lat­ing Dankwambo for his vic­tory.

In his re­ac­tion, an APC stal­wart, Al­haji Umaru Baba Goro, said the judg­ment was an act of God and ad­vised peo­ple to ac­cept it.
