The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said investigation of Senator Godswill Akpabio by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was part of a ‘ploy’ by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government to weaken the PDP ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State and current Senate Minority Leader was on Friday invited by the EFCC for interrogation but later released and asked to reappear Saturday, over corruption allegations leveled against him when he was governor.
