Ministers: Malami defends self

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Garba Muhammad, Birnin Kebbi

Ministerial nominee for Kebbi State, Abubakar Malami SAN, has defended his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Some indigenes had complained of his nomination on the grounds that he was from the same local government area with the incumbent governor, Atiku Bagudu.

Malami was among the first list of nominees who have been screened and cleared by the Senate.

Speaking on phone, Malami said his nomination cannot be faulted based on issues relating to where he comes from.

“It is true as you rightly observed, I am from the same LGA and zone with the governor. In fact, we come from the same Birnin Kebbi town, even though I am from Nasarawa 1 ward, while the governor is from Nasarawa 2 ward.”
