Cabinet: Group meets over exclusion of FCT natives
A group, under the auspices of the North Central Consultative Assembly (NOCCA), has summoned its executive members for an emergency meeting to deliberate the exclusion of natives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from President Muhammadu Buhari’s list of cabinet members.
In a statement signed by the director general of the assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Alfa, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, the group, said it was not happy with the continuous exclusion of natives of the FCT from the federal executive council by successive administrations.
The group said it considers such action as an act of injustice to the entire North Central states, especially the natives of the territory.
It stated that subsequent administrations had continued to deny the indigenous people of the FCT the right of being appointed into the federal cabinet. “It was in the light of the above, that NOCCA summoned its executive members for an emergency meeting to brainstorm on the way forward and
to analyze the constitutional position of the FCT.
“Thus, the meeting would forward its position to President Muhammadu Buhari through a powerful delegation from the North Central zone,” the statement concluded.
