Adamawa to spend N9.6bn on salary ar­rears

The Adamawa State gov­ern­ment has ear­marked N9.6bil­lion of its bailout fund from the fed­eral gov­ern­ment for pay­ment of work­ers’ salary ar­rears.

Ad­dress­ing news­men in Yola yes­ter­day, the state Com­mis­sioner for Fi­nance and Bud­get, Mah­mud Yunusa, said the gov­ern­ment had con­cluded ar­range­ments for the dis­burse­ment of pen­sion, leave grant and trans­port grantsý 2013, 2014 and 2015.

He noted the com­mit­ment of the present ad­min­is­tra­tion to work­ers’ wel­fare in or­der to in­crease pro­duc­tiv­ity.

Yunusa added that per­ma­nent sec­re­taries

for would be paid their en­ti­tle­ments in­clud­ing fur­ni­ture al­lowance.

In his re­marks, Gover­nor Muham­madu Bu­maru Jib­rilla, who was at the press con­fer­ence, promised to lead a trans­par­ent and peo­ple­cen­tred gov­ern­ment.
