CISLAC calls on NNPC to promote transparency

Daily Trust - - NEWS - By Olayemi John-Mensah

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy (CISLAC) has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to sustain development and promote transparency in oil and gas sector.

The advocacy group in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Auwal Ibrahim Musa commended the corporation for the release of its Oil and Gas Report for the month of August, 2015 as earlier promised by the Group Managing Director, Dr Kachukwu Ibe.

“We consider this publication of monthly transaction report of the corporation a true reflection of commitment of the present leadership to promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in the oil and gas sector.”

CISLAC also called on all stakeholders to study the report to provide feedback on its level of disclosure so as to determine if its meets citizens’ expectations in terms of the information they have a right to know. It believed the ongoing effort would not only result in transparency and accountability in the nation’s oil and gas sector but also restore the public confidence in the corporation.
