Nwuche calls for review of past appointments

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - By Muideen Olaniyi

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche, has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the caliber of persons he sent to the Senate for screening and confirmation as Ministers in his government.

The former lawmaker said most of the ministerial nominees were persons of proven integrity and capacity, who had distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavor and are bound to bring great value and mileage to the Buhari administration.

Prince Nwuche, who spoke on the sidelines of the Senate ministerial screening exercise at the National Assembly said, “The thrust of any government would be determined by those who drive key portfolios. What makes a government thick is the caliber of persons that are selected to fill vital positions and offices in the government, such as ministers and advisers,” he said.

He, however, further called for “more forensic review of appointments” made previously in some strategic government agencies and parastatals, where people who according to him lack vision and capacity are still holding sway and constituting clogs in the wheel of progress.
