Sokoto PDP rises in defence of Aisha as minister

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Rakiya A. Muhammad, Sokoto

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State said it was surprised that there are moves against the nomination of Aisha Abubakar as minister.

Leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Sokoto had risen against Aisha Abubakar’s nomination, saying she is not a member of the party and not known by majority of the people.

They also said she hailed from the same senatorial zone with the state governor, Aminu Tamabuwal.

But commenting on the issue, Alhaji Kabir Aliyu, who is the secretary of the PDP in the state said, “I am surprised that some cabals will openly reject her. This is the first time a woman from Sokoto is appointed as minister, thereby, breaking a jinx. She is competent; she is a technocrat and has proven herself.

“I don’t think we can have a better choice, I think she is competent, she is the best that we can have,” he said.
