Maku blasts Al-makura over N10bn loan

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - By Sakina Mohammed

Former information minister Labaran Maku has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) not to give a loan of N10 billion for infrastructure allegedly requested by the Tanko Al-makura led government of Nasarawa state.

Maku, who made the call yesterday at the headquarters of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abuja, said the CBN should not give the loan until there was proper account of what the state government did with the huge allocations it got in the last four and half years.

He said: “we received news that the state government is going to receive another N10 billion loans from the CBN, which if added to the bail-out would make it 18.2 billion naira.”

Maku suggested that monies for salaries should be given to the state government to enable the payment of workers, whose conditions he said was deplorable.
