Arik Air grounds planes over wing-tip brush
Two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft belonging to Arik Air were yesterday grounded after a wing-tip brush at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
One of the aircraft marked 5N-MJP was being marshalled out of the ramp for a scheduled flight when its wing brushed that of another marked 5N-MJQ parked on the ramp.
Arik Air spokesman, Adebanji Ola, confirmed the incident, saying the safety of passengers was not jeopardized.
The airline, according to the spokesman, has grounded the two aircraft while looking into the incident. Though Adebanji did not disclose the destination of the affected aircraft, he added that another aircraft was provided to meet up with the scheduled flight.
