Task force ar­rests kid­nap king­pin, re­cov­ers live­stock

The mil­i­tary Task Force set up to tackle cat­tle rustling and ban­ditry in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zam­fara States has ar­rested a no­to­ri­ous kid­nap king­pin, Ibrahim Gaya Isa, at Dak­iTak­was in Gummi LGA of Zam­fara State, Daily Trust gath­ered yes­ter­day.

Daki-Tak­was was where the mother of the former gov­er­nor­ship can­di­date of the de­funct All Nige­rian Peo­ples Party (ANPP) in Sokoto State, Al­haji Yushe’u Kebbe, was found af­ter the pay­ment of ran­som to her ab­duc­tors.

A state­ment signed by the spokesman of the task force, Cap­tain Umar Shu’aibu, said the sus­pect was be­hind most of the kid­nap cases in the three states.

It added that the task force had raided Kuyan­bana for­est and ar­rested a sus­pected ban­dit, Al­haji Majo. The state­ment dis­closed that the two sus­pects were handed over to the DSS in Zam­fara for fur­ther in­ter­ro­ga­tion. It said thou­sands of live­stock were re­cov­ered from the ban­dits’ hide­outs at Dan­gulbi for­est, Kuyam­bana, Bawan Daji and Go­bi­rawa area of Anka LGA of Zam­fara State.

In an op­er­a­tion at Buzuzu for­est in Bukuyyum LGA of the state, ban­dits’ camps were de­stroyed with mil­i­tary and po­lice uni­forms re­cov­ered. The Com­man­der, 1 Brigade of the Nige­rian Army, Bri­gadier Gen­eral Olu­fun­milola Sol­eye, as­sured that there would no longer be any hid­ing place for ter­ror­ists in the zone.
