2015 elec­tions: Coun­cil of State com­mends Jega

The Coun­cil State has lauded the im­me­di­ate past chair­man of the In­de­pen­dent Na­tional Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (INEC) Pro­fes­sor At­tahiru Jega for his ex­em­plary per­for­mance in of­fice.

the com­men­da­tion yes­ter­day at its meet­ing presided over by Pres­i­dent Muham­madu Buhari, at the Pres­i­den­tial Villa in Abuja.

Ad­dress­ing State House cor­re­spon­dents af­ter the meet­ing, Se­nior Spe­cial As­sis­tant to the Pres­i­dent on Me­dia and Pub­lic­ity, Mal­lam Garba Shehu said the coun­cil specif­i­cally com­mended Jega over the con­duct of the 2015 gen­eral elec­tions widely ad­judged free and fair.

The pres­i­den­tial aide said Buhari di­rected the Coun­cil of State Sec­re­tar­iat to note the com­men­da­tions. “A let­ter of com­men­da­tion may later be sent to the former INEC boss,” Shehu said.
