4 im­pris­oned for pos­sess­ing dan­ger­ous weapons

Four per­sons have been sen­tenced to two months’ im­pris­on­ment each by an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for be­ing in pos­ses­sion of dan­ger­ous weapons in Kubwa, Bwari Area Coun­cil of the FCT.

Owe Sa­muel, 20, Aboh Echo, 20, Daniel Isador, 25, and Se­gun Akinyemi, 23, were con­victed for joint act, at­tempt to com­mit of­fence to wit, in­cit­ing pub­lic dis­tur­bance, of­fences con­trary to sec­tions 79, 95 and 114 of the pe­nal code.

The po­lice pros­e­cu­tor, DSP Egwu An­thony, told the court that the ac­cused, with some oth­ers now at large, be­haved vi­o­lently in an at­tempt to dis­turb the peace of the pub­lic, es­pe­cially res­i­dents of the vicin­ity at By­hazin by Mil­lion­aire quar­ters.

He said the ac­cused were how­ever ar­rested and some dan­ger­ous weapons re­cov­ered from them.

When the charges were read to the ac­cused, they pleaded guilty, and the judge, Mo­hammed Marafa, sen­tenced him to two months’ im­pris­on­ment each with an op­tion of N2,000 fine.
