Kano wal­lop Rivers 12-0 to reach Para-soc­cer tour­ney semis

De­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, Kano State yes­ter­day wal­loped Rivers State 12-0 to set up a semi-fi­nal clash against neigh­bours Katsina State at the on­go­ing 3rd Na­tional Parasoc­cer Tour­na­ment in Abuja.

Katsina State had de­feated am­bi­tious Gombe Scor­pi­ons 7-2 in one of the quar­ter-fi­nal matches.

Borno and Osun States also qual­i­fied for the semis af­ter record­ing vic­to­ries over Nasarawa and the Fed­eral cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory re­spec­tively.

While Borno de­feated Nasarawa State 7-2, their op­po­nents in the semis, Osun State recorded a slim 1-0 vic­tory over the FCT.

Sec­re­tary of Para-soc­cer Fed­er­a­tion of Nige­ria, Ab­dul­lahi Ahmed Li­bata said the men have been sep­a­rated from the boys and fans will be thrilled dur­ing the semi-fi­nal matches.

He said af­ter the group matches and quar­ter-fi­nal games played yes­ter­day, the best teams have emerged to fight for a place in the fi­nals which comes up on Satur­day at the pack­age B of the Abuja na­tional sta­dium.

“We are grad­u­ally get­ting close to the fi­nals which we be­lieve will fea­ture the best two states in the tour­na­ment.

“For now, it is the best four teams that are left stand­ing but by to­mor­row, we shall know which teams will play in the fi­nals on Satur­day.

“On our part as a fed­er­a­tion, we are do­ing every­thing to have a hitch-free tour­na­ment. We are there­fore look­ing at how we shall have a be­fit­ting clos­ing cer­e­mony that will come be­fore the fi­nal match,” he said.
