Daily Trust agric confab begins tomorrow
All is set for the 1st Daily Trust Agric Conference and Exhibition taking place tomorrow and Wednesday. The event, which is in partnership with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, will hold at NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Ahmadu Bello Way, along NEXT Cash and Carry Expressway, Kado, Abuja.
The theme of the conference is “Beyond Crude Oil: How AgriBussiness can sustain Nigeria’s economy.”
Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, will be the distinguished Guest of Honour, while Chief Audu Ogbeh, Minister designate and foremost farmer, will be the distinguished guest.
The Chairman, Honeywell Group Plc, Dr Oba Otudeko and Chairman Nagari Integrated Dairy Farms, Senator Abdullahi Adamu will be Chairmen of Plenary for day one and day two respectively. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Arch Sonny Echono, is the Chief Co - Host and will also deliver a keynote address.
The conference has Speakers/ Discussants drawn from both the public and private sectors, that includes, the Chief Executive Officers ( CEOs) of Bank of Agriculture, (BOA), Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, (NAIC), Nigeria Commodity Exchange, (NCEX), Nigeria Export Promotion Council, (NEPC), the Academia among other top executives.
The conference will also have in attendance members of All Farmers Association of Nigeria, (AFAN), Federation of Agric Commodities Associations of Nigeria, (FACAN), States Agricultural Development Programmes, fertilizer manufacturing organisations, research Institutes, agro processing industries/agro allied industries, experts in the agriculture value chain, university dons, NGOs, diplomatic community, NGOs among other stakeholders.
Exhibitors will also have the opportunity to display their products, flyers and other corporate banners at the event. It is also an opportunity for the exhibitors to explain more about those products to stakeholders and other investors that are already looking for opportunity to invest in the sector.
Participants will brainstorm on the development of agriculture in Nigeria and how the sector can complement crude oil as cash cow for Nigeria’s economy.
The communiqué arrived at the sessions will be communicated to the Presidency in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision of diversification of the economy.
