Daily Trust - - HEALTH - From Romoke W. Ahmad, Ilorin

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) have raided a fake hospital in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Various documents and a medical certificate believed to be stolen were found during the raid.

Springsway Hospital which is located in a hidden corner at Oko Erin area of the state capital, Daily Trust learnt runs a 24hours service and caused many victims their lives.

Head of Inspectorate, MDCN Dr. Okwuokenye Henry who was in Ilorin on the instruction of the council’s registrar, Dr. Abdulmumini Ibrahim, said the council received a petition against the said hospital that is being operated by a fake doctor who has been carrying out surgeries and fertility operations on his victims.

”During the raid discovered that the

we letter for the registration of the hospital was written by the fake doctor who used the name of one Dr. Jimoh A.A as the overseer of the hospital, and another Dr. Adeyemi as the medical director in charge of the hospital.

“From investigations, both doctors denied knowing Olaitan O. Lanre who opened the hospital while Dr. Adeyemi who is said to be medical director of the hospital and whose certificate was also used to register the hospital when contacted, and from his file in our office, is working with Hospital Management Board in Ibadan. Lanre’s operations at the hospital is totally fraud,” Henry said

The head of the inspectorate said the two doctors indicted by the documents found at the hospital have been summoned to appear before the council.

Director Medical Services and Training, Kwara State ministry of health, Dr. Subair Erubu, said the hospital didn’t register as a hospital but as a clinic and maternity to carry out minor treatments on people. But they were surprised that the clinic has gone beyond what is expected of it by carrying out surgeries for case that does not even require such.”

Meanwhile the head of inspectorate of the MDCN has ordered that the place be locked up until all the issues are resolved and gave police the go ahead to arrest Mr Olaitan O. Lanre.
